UK AMBASSADOR, LORD EDWARD LLEWELYN, ON OFFICIAL VISIT TO BAGLIETTO SHIPYARD TO PROMOTE DEFENSE TRADE RELATIONS<\/p><\/h2><\/div>
British Ambassador, Lord Edward Llewelyn, recently and officially visited Baglietto shipyard, which last year celebrated its 170th anniversary. The visit was intended to underline the excellent relations between the British government and Baglietto shipyard, with particular attention to the military sector.
\nThe British delegation also included the Senior Trade Adviser Maritime, the Head of Advanced Engineering Trade Team, UK Defence & Security Exports, the Naval & Air Attach\u00e9 and the GCAP & Armaments Attach\u00e9.<\/p>\n
The visit involved, in addition to the management of the La Spezia shipyard, also representatives of the British companies MST and BMT linked to Baglietto Navy by commercial relations. During the meeting, the importance for the United Kingdom of being able to develop partnerships with Italian companies of international importance was highlighted. In particular, the strengthening of strategic partnerships in the defense sector allows the exchange of technological know-how and specific skills, as well as ensuring support and technical assistance in the respective offices and allowing both companies to participate in tenders with Italian and\/or foreign defense entities.<\/p>\n
After the welcome by the CEO, Diego Deprati and an introduction to the realities of Baglietto, with particular attention to the Navy division, and the British partners MST and BMT, the meeting included a visit to the shipyard and then concluded with an informal lunch at the company.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe defense sector, including the naval industry, is crucial to the new industrial strategy of the United Kingdom \u2013 said Ambassador Llewelyn: The collaboration between Italy and the United Kingdom, two allied nations and two strategic partners from a political, industrial and military point of view, is particularly flourishing in this sector. A significant example is the partnership between the Baglietto shipyard and the British companies BMT and MST, aimed at developing innovative solutions useful for facing today’s challenges and contemporary global scenarios”.<\/p>\n
