Increased number of shipyards present at Seatec, brought together in the exclusive “Seatec Shipyard Lounge” where they will meet exhibitors, subcontracting supply chain operators and young professionals taking part in the “Seatec Career Day”.
Carrara, 11 November 2019
Seatec, the trade show for technology, components, design and subcontracting applied to recreational boating, set up and promoted by IMM CarraraFiere, will be in its 18th year in 2020.
The organisational team will be introducing further important new features and business opportunities for the sector, taking a new perspective on the market that is currently very dynamic and looking to the future optimistically, as confirmed by all the indicators in the sector as well as the performance of the autumn shows. The team has already begun positive talks with the leading figures in the national shipbuilding industry, which is the first in the world for quality and production volumes. Upon their request, the show has been moved back to February (from 5 to 7) and the team is exploring new opportunities and synergies with the overall consensus of the production sector. Objective: to consolidate the role of the only B2B trade fair dedicated to the sector in Italy and Mediterranean Europe in the array of international nautical events by creating a format that responds across the board to the demands of the shipbuilding industry and the entire chain supporting it, endorsing it as the irreplaceable point of reference it has been in the last 17 editions.
With this logic, Seatec 2020 aims to confirm its position as a highly specialised technical hub, a meeting place between demand and supply. For the first time, the large shipyards will be promoted in an exclusive “Shipyard Lounge” over an area of 400 m² located inside Hall E, where each shipyard will have its own space. Not just a simple VIP Lounge, but a multi-faceted space where the shipyards will hold B2B meetings reserved for Exhibitors at the show, arranged beforehand with individual schedules. The shipyards can also develop networking opportunities in the lounge with the supply chain players, start-ups in the sector, Universities and professional people participating in the “Career Day” to be held at the show, another new feature of the 2020 edition.
The “Seatec Career Day” initiative, scheduled for Friday 7 February, was strongly requested by the shipyards themselves who are constantly looking for specialised technical people, often difficult to find, to involve young designers and engineers with specific background in the nautical field with a view to establishing new relations aimed at developing job opportunities. The young professionals will be recruited by IMM CarraraFiere in collaboration with UniGe, Master PromoStudi, UniFi, Milan Polytechnic and Quasar Roma. Young undergraduates and graduates can participate in the event by registering on the online portal created by the organisers, while the Universities will be promoting the event to their students and graduates.
The following have signed up for the Seatec Shipyard Lounge: Absolute Yachts, Azimut | Benetti Cantiere delle Marche, Cantieri del Pardo, Cantiere Navale Franchini, CCN Cerri Cantiere Navale, Gruppo Ferretti, Italian Sea Group, Montecarlo Yachts, Rossinavi, Rossini, Sanlorenzo, Seven Stars Marina & Shipyards. Further relations are currently being defined with shipyards producing medium- and medium-small-sized boats, so as to include the widest possible range of national shipyards in the show. The Seatec organisational team is also working to establish relations and agreements with the main Italian and European trade associations in order to involve as many qualified operators as possible in the event. Thanks to the long-term collaboration with ICE Agency, once again in 2020 there will be a delegation of leading foreign yards, dealers and operators from Europe and North America. This has been a peculiarity of the event for 17 years, involving a specific B2B matching between exhibitors and buyers selected by the organisers.
In terms of conferences, the 2020 edition will also be offering a rich calendar of events at the Seatec Academy, the flagship of the show that has always been devoted to technical training. The themes for 2020 will focus on sustainability, both regarding products and the work environment, the marketing of subcontracting companies, design controlled by regulations, contemporary refit techniques compared to construction methods of the past. To increase the points of interest and also the participation of the public, the conferences will once again be a valuable opportunity for training and updating with the issue of Professional Training Credits (CFP) to engineers and architects, thanks to the effective collaboration between IMM CarraraFiere and the Professional Associations of the Province of Massa Carrara.
Seatec 2020 will be held at CarraraFiere, Carrara, from 5 to 7 February 2020.
