The Tuscan technical hub kicks off on 5 February, this year with opportunities for further specialisation and lots of new opportunities for young professionals in the sector

Seatec, the exhibition of technology, components, design and subcontracting applied to pleasure boating, the only event dedicated to the sector in Italy and southern Europe and Compotec, "Hi-tech Composites Solutions", the only event in Italy dedicated to the industry of composite materials and their multiple applications, organised and  promoted by IMM CarraraFiere, open their 2020 editions (the 18th and the 12th), with the first important new feature. To meet the marketing and schedule needs expressed by those working in the industry, the dates for the events have been brought forward to 5, 6 and 7 February, the traditional dates of the two shows.

Focused as always on the meeting between supply and demand thanks to the system of B2B meetings between the Italian component and composite companies and the international buyers selected in collaboration with the ICE Agency, for its 18th edition, Seatec has extended participation to include the large Italian shipyards, offering them a dedicated space, the Shipyard Lounge, where the purchasing and technical offices of the shipbuilding giants will be able to meet the sales staff and technicians of the component companies exhibiting at Seatec at pre-arranged meetings. The initiative involves prestigious names such as Benetti Yachts, Cantieri del Pardo, Cantiere Navale Franchini, CCN Cerri Cantiere Navale, Gruppo Ferretti, Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven GmbH, The Italian Sea Group, NCA Refit, Rosetti Superyachts, Rossinavi, Rossini, Sanlorenzo, Seven Stars Marina & Shipyard and T. Mariotti. 

On Friday 7 February, the shipyards present in the Shipyard Lounge will be busy with the Seatec Career Day: a day dedicated to meeting prospective new recruits including technicians, designers and engineers who have either just finished school or university and are looking for professional career opportunities. They will have an opportunity to talk directly with the players of the shipbuilding industry at the exhibition.

Among the prominent exhibitors of the 18th edition of Seatec are leading names in the “Made in Italy” component supply chain, including Besenzoni, Opac Mare, GianneschiPump & Blowers, Foresti and Suardi, Samos; for motorsport, Saim and Cummins, Incofin, JDM Jolly Drive; among the Assonat associations, the Italian navy network. In the start-up segment,  DeepSpeed, the revolutionary electric jet engine that expresses high power in a small volume, stands out. 

Among the exhibitors of the 12th edition of Compotec are Resintex, T&T, Elantas, Mapes and, for the first time in Italy, the Japanese company Yuho. 

Seatec and Compotec 2020 also offer a stimulating conference programme staged in the Seatec Compotec Academy, the pride of the events. Once again this year, there will be two conferences offering Professional Training Credits (CFP) for engineers, in collaboration with the CNI, the National Council of Engineers and the Association of Architects of the Province of Massa - Carrara.

On Thursday 6 February, at Compotec, Professor Angelo Di Tommaso of the University of Bologna will be holding the AICO (Italian Builders Association) seminar entitled “Composites and Related Technologies in Civil Engineering and Architecture”. This will take stock of the Safety of Infrastructures, Protection of Architectural Heritage, Urban Regeneration, School Safety, Antiseismic regulations in Production facilities, using composite materials and pultruded materials. Contributions by Professor Di Tommaso himself and IUAV professors, the Faculty of Architecture of Venice, bringing attention to the use of composite materials in building work. Participation in the conference is worth 7 CFP for  engineers and 8 CFPs for architects.

On the Seatec calendar of events, on Friday 7 February, the conference "Overview on issues related to the environment, digitalisation and technological innovations.  Workshop on national environmental regulations: ShipRecycling, Hybrid propulsion, IMO Tier III, Polar ", participation  in which is worth  3 CFP for engineers and 4 CFP for architects.
